It
took the Navy almost two hundred years to promote a woman to flag rank.
Alene Duerk, the first female Navy admiral, earned this title after
several years of hard work and dedication to the US Navy. From a
registered nurse to an Admiral, Duerk was one of the first nurses to
serve in three wars: World War II, the Korean War, and the Vietnam War.
This short documentary recounts how she overcame gender stereotypes to
become a historical icon.
